2020… New decade, New goals, New challenges…

2020 … New decade, New goals, New challenges…

We quietly celebrated Korsan’s 40th season last year … four decades of successful business and expansion. The last two decades in particular have brought much change and success for Korsan. As much as we are grateful for, and appreciate, where we are today, as always we are looking forward to the future, the next target and new goals to be achieved.

IMPROVEMENTS

This winter our Head Chefs from the Korsan Meze and The Fish Terrace have been on 10 day’s work experience in Istanbul (what do they say about ‘teaching an old dog new tricks’!).  Serdar and Mustafa spent time in two very well-known Istanbul restaurants, Arnavutköy Balikcisi a seafood restaurant on the Bosporus and Tike, a famous meat restaurant. Ali, our outside catering chef, will have his turn at work experience next.  Ali is currently running the kitchen at our olive press (traditionally, farmers are offered a meal whilst waiting for the olives to be processed). In March Ali will be going to Istanbul to work at La Ventura Catering, a very successful outside catering company owned by a good friend, they make the best meze I have ever come across….. so look out for some new dishes and ideas on our menus next season.

We are investing further in our Korsan Webcams and have ordered four new generation cameras so all 8 cameras will be of the same standard.  We have some new locations planned and new angles. We hope all will be up and running by early March.

With over 40 rental villas, private villas, The Korsan Suites, The Korsan Apartments, our restaurants, launderette, the olive press, staff apartments, new construction, renovation work, etc., the importance of our Korsan technical team has never been more apparent.  This year we have appointed a new member of staff to the team and you will see a new additional Korsan vehicle on the roads. The increased team will enable continued high efficiency and swift response times for all day-to-day maintenance issues and will keep our Korsan service unrivaled in Kalkan.

CHALLENGES

We have two new developments this year, one is a Korsan project and the other, The Olive House, is a bespoke build for a private owner.  For numerous reasons obtaining the necessary paper work for construction is taking longer and longer so completing all the paperwork and getting on with our new builds as fast as we can is our primary challenge as we start the new decade.

Elsewhere, we replaced the hand press equipment with a new state of the art olive press which will enable us to produce a wild olive oil, early harvest olive oil and an unfiltered oil …do try the mandarin olive oil, this year is one of our best ever!

We finally formed a group of investors in early December and are looking forward to the delivery of our first Korsan Air A220.  Our aim is to offer affordable air fares, sociable flight times and direct flights from Dalaman to all UK Airports. Of course I wish that I wasn’t joking!! … as it is clear that this year’s big challenge will be the shortage of flights and the increased flight prices.  We won’t even mention the geopolitical challenges … we are used to those!

Whatever the challenges, Korsan is ready to take on its fifth decade … onwards and upwards!
